Chilly pre-autumn greetings from the Adirondack highlands
Greetings, all, from the Adirondacks and the Thousand Islands seaway. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge I've found here (I've been lurking for a month, if not longer).
I'm soon to be married to a granddaughter of a MacDonald of Glencoe. The prospect of a kilted wedding has been on the table since the beginning of the marriage conversations, so I've been searching through my ancestry with a fine-toothed comb in hopes of finding ANYTHING Scottish, no matter how small; unfortunately 99% of my heritage has come up English and Dutch, other than my surname Davis (the precise origins of which are still a mystery), and a false positive "Mcumber" which also turned out to be English.
Her MacDonald family in Canada has blessed my use of their tartan after the marriage, but until then, I've decided to proudly wear the beautiful USAF tartan as a retiree. I hope to be in touch with Rocky in the near future in order to get my hands on one.
Thank you all for the encyclopedic knowledge and supportive atmosphere I've found here. I'll be around.
Cheers, my friends.

Thank you kindly. I spent five years stationed in San Angelo, only a few hours west of you. Gorgeous country and I miss it terribly sometimes.

Well met Rob. I'm glad you found us and I want to thank you for your service. The USAF tartan is a fine fit for formal events, like weddings, if the subject comes up. Welcome

And I spent 4 years just 3 hours directly south of you. A beautiful area you live in, but a bit chilly in the winter.
