    I belong to the International Clan MacFarlane Society, but my connection is somewhat tenuous. My third-great grandparents, John McFarlane and Janet Taylor, emigrated from Rutherglen with my two-year-old second-great-grandmother Marion in tow, and settled in Dutchess County, New York. I have not yet found a connection back from Rutherglen to the ancestral McFarlane lands on the west shore of Loch Lomond.
