Greetings from SoCal, Bruce.
This is from Wikipedia:
"The sgian dubh (pronounced [skiːn dyː], or lightly diphthongised [skiən dyː] "skee(a)n doo")"
Hope this helps. There may be other pronuciations, and if there are I'm sure others will be able to provide enlightenment.

in the south, we usually pronounce it "skin - do" with an almost g sounding k.

Brooster, I would go with "skeen doo". It's the closest you will probably come to the Gaelic without actually hearing it pronounced.

I would say go with ThistleDown's pronunciation.

Far be it from me to argue with the Wizard of BC, he's probably right. The only pronunciation I've ever heard for it, however, is "skeen doo."

from South Wales UK!
Even the spelling varies, let alone the pronunciation!
