Dress Stewart Kilt - Which sporran?
Dear Rabble !
I've just ordered a new kilt. Maybe some of you will disapprove, but I always wanted a Dress Stewart kilt. My other kilts are my clan kilts - Robertson Red and Hunting Robertson, along with a Black Watch and a Royal Stewart (I am a British subject). I am also the owner of a dubious 'forbidden' royal tartan kilt. I usually wear a white rabbit fur with black tassels dress sporran, or a plain black leather every day sporran, depending on the occasion - I think they look good with my kilts and are interchangeable.
However - I am at loss as to what to wear with a Dress Stewart. With the Dress Stewart tartan being mainly white, I don't think my usual rabbit fur will look right - too much white, and my everyday black leather sporran is a no - no. I thought about grey ones, brown ones every sort of ones, but can't make up my mind. Any suggestions or advice would be gratefully received !

Are you asking for evening wear, day time wear, or maybe something that would cover everything?
For Evening- have you thought about those fire-engine red rabbit fur sporrans match the red in your Dress Stewart and only 30 pounds!

Which tartan? It is not 'forbidden' to wear any of the tartans worn by members of the Royal Family. By convention, manufacturers will not sell the Balmoral tartan or make a kilt in it, for anyone not associted with the Royal Family or some of those who work at Balmoral?

Please refer to my previous posts on this forum. They caused a lot of controversy. Suffice to say, I got a letter from Buckingham Palace requesting that I do not wear it.

If you aren't wearing it and willing to part with it, let me know - I am a US Citizen, but have a Commonwealth Passport and Canadian Passport, and if it is the right size or I can resize it, I would LOVE to wear it to some of my piping and curling events. In case you were worried I am looking to do something inappropriate, I am not, but if you aren't allowed to wear it, I would love to!
As a side note, on the topic of "keeping it in the family," we are Robertsons as well, way, way, way back... lots of things actually; it turns out that my family both married outside of the family before it was "cool," and also got thrown out of a lot of countries back in the day. ;P

This brown sporran seems to work okay.

Coincidence, I really fancy getting a Dress Stewart kilt as well. I live in hope there will be somewhere to wear it one day soon other than the supermarket.

A gray fur (seal?) in the Prince Charlie format (or any) would look good.
