Eager NYC Newbie Jumps the Gun...
Yikes! Seems I did things a bit backward on my first day here by posting in a forum first, and then introducing myself here! So sorry! I didn't even notice this Newbie Forum until after I'd posted there.
My name is Rose and I'm from Manhattan, NYC. I am married to a bagpipe player who is a member of his Local Labor Unions' Pipe&Drums Band. His Band doesn't compete too often, but mainly marches and performs in events in and around the New York area, including the huge St. Patrick's Day Parade right here in NYC. We are currently planning for the next big event - the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Savannah, GA, where the Band was invited to perform.
I enjoy assisting Hubby with his piping activities and events, and I look forward to sharing messages here with you fine folks.

So, what tartan does your man's band wear? And what Union?

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome! As for Hubby, his Labor Unions' band wears the "McNiel of Barra" modern tartan (glimpse in my avatar). He's with the IUOE Local 94 - Union of Operating Engineers. I 'turned him on' to this board earlier tonight and he signed up, so he's probably going to pop up here in the "Newbies" forum shortly.
Nice to meet all of you!
