First kilt where to buy?
I went to my first games last October and got immediately hooked. Wow, was that an eye opener. I told my friend before going that she'd never get me in a kilt. Never. Now here I am reading up on Scottish history and searching the net for my first Kilt. I'm like the Zombie; Muuust... haaave... kiiilllt.... Anyway, I'm looking at Houston Kiltmakers in Paisley to make my first kilt (first... heh heh). http://www.kiltmakers.com/ They look and sound very professional. Quite helpful too. Has anyone purchased a kilt from them? Thanks, Tommy

First of all, welcome to the rabble from Virginia! Next, it depends on the occasion for wear. If you want something casual to wear, that looks good but not necessarily formal, and is inexpensive, I would go with either Sportkilt or Stillwater Kilts. With Sportkilt, you'll get a fine PV kilt that you can wear just as easily to the movies or the games. Same with the SWK, but you'll be able to get wool. Either way, they are great kilts with great service and won't break your bank.

Welcome from West Virginia!
I echo Stillwater, but suggest USA Kilts. Either are good and both carry wool.

Welcome to the Rabble. I know one of our regular members (cessna152towser) here has purchased a couple of kilts from that firm. Here are the links to his reviews:

Just a point of clarification: neither Sportkilt or SWK kilts are made using PV. The Sportkilt is made from a poly/cotton blend and the SWK is made from acrylic. USAK, however, are made using PV from Marton Mills.

Stillwater Kilts and also Frugal Corner are the least expensive as a 'Starter".

You can try SWK, USA Kilts, and many other good places.

From San Angelo, Texas!
I would second either a kilt from Sport Kilt or SWK as a first kilt. My first two kilts were from SWK and my third from Sport Kilt. I'm about 95% sure my next will be from USA Kilts.

Thanks for the reviews Tatoo! Very helpful. They're beautiful kilts too. I got a little extra cash this month so I might go for it. I've been to Scotland twice so it'd be pretty special to have my first come from there. We'll see.
