First photos - Be gentle. LOL
At the office, there have been a good many layoffs recently, and those who remain have been feeling a bit depressed about it all. So to perhaps inject a smile or two, and as tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day, I went to the office kilted today.
What I've got here, is a Scottish National from ebay ("Carse of Gowrie"), with everything else having come from Scotweb while I await my "tank".
After looking at the photos, I've lowered the kilt pin an inch or so (it just looked too high to me.) As my proper brogues haven't yet been received, I added long laces to a fairly plain shoe, and the result looked pretty good, I think.
So now I open the floor to the rabble. Does anyone have any critique, advice, or suggestions to offer, based on these pics?

Well OK, there are lots of kilted things that people have there own opinions about, including me! But there are two observations that, I think, many would agree with.
Firstly, your sporran could do with raising , quite a lot. You can see that the strap is bunching the kilt for a start and well, it is just too low.
Secondly, it is perfectly acceptable not to wear ghillie brogues if you wish, so there is absolutely no need to "mock" up a perfectly good pair of shoes.
Kilt pin height is down to personal choice , there is no right or wrong, some like mid thigh height, some like near the bottom, its down to you.
After that, read the threads and posts here and you will develop and adjust your own style in time.

I agree with Jock's assessment. It also seems that your kilt length seems a wee bit on the short side, but it could be the camera angle, or perhaps you are wearing the kilt a 'snudge' too high on your waist?
Besides that, well done!
Cheers,

I've lowered the kilt and tightened the sporran a notch. Thanks for the tips! I dont have a full-length mirror, so it's hard to see for myself until a photo is taken.

Wearing the kilt to the office! Kilt on, brother! (I wore a kilt to the office, today, BTW).
I have a Clansman vest, too! I normally wear it with my belted plaids. I would tend not to wear it with a tailored kilt. Although, I did wear it last summer with a casual type kilt.
With a tailored kilt, if I didn't have kilt cut type jacket. I would just wear a sweater or any short jacket in the closet.
You are doing great!

I would echo Jock and Kyle's advice, and say that if you want to go for a more traditional kilted look, they both (along with quite a few others) provide good advice. You will as Jock says develop your own unique style along the way.

Some use the guide for sporran height as 4 fingers width between the bottom of the belt and the top of the sporran. Not everyone's choice, but somewhere around there is not far out.

Agreed. I tend to go for more like 2-3 fingers myself.
