Hi everyone,

I've just joined after coming across this forum regularly during many searches about kilts and tartan.

After a long held suspicion, I was recently able to confirm that my family has Scottish heritage; something that has made me very pleased because I have always had a love of tartan and kilts. My family emigrated to Australia in the mid 1800s; my grandfather's grandfather being the last relative born in Scotland. The family was from Midlothian, outside of Edinburgh, and the family name is allegedly a sept of the Murray Clan.

So, after lots of Googling and reading (and even squeezing in a quick day trip to Edinburgh when I was in London recently) I am currently looking into buying my first kilt (post up on Kilt Advice section).

It has been a fascinating experience tracing my family history and learning so much more about Scotland, kilts, tartan and highland dress. This forum has provided a wealth of information and enjoyment so I thought I should join up.
