G'day from Down Under - West Coast

Not many Aussies on here, if the Aust group numbers are an indicator. Yet the number of Scottish immigrants here is immense. There is a Facebook page for Scots in Perth (where I live) and it has 3000 members. I recently attended the Robbie Burns dinner here and it was sold out with 300 people. So the culture is thriving. Our annual Highland Gathering in Armadale attracted 4000 people last September.

    Anyway, I digress.

I came here as a result of searching for a navy blue and white kilt, of which were are several which fit my needs (Menzies Navy perhaps). Ended up designing one on Scotsweb and may get it made one day.

Meantime, my wife made me a Smith Modern (her first attempt) and I have an Australian National Tartan kilt, which reflects my English, Irish and Scottish (Munro) lines.

Hoping to have a good look around and gather some helpful information.
    Best to all.
    Greg

Welcome from a Scotsman living in the English midlands. I've visited Australia several times (Sydney, Darwin, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Brisbane), but haven't yet explored the West coast.
Good to see that your wife is supportive of your kilt-wearing; she's clearly very talented.

Well met Greg. I'm glad to hear of the growing historical Scottish attraction in Australia. I hope the interest in our small contributing faction will expand. Glad to have you with us.
