Good evening from Norfolk, UK.
I've just joined the forum having waded through many pages of useful information. I have just bought my first Kilt (Black Stewart), not a made to measure woollen one as I have to justify the cost through SWMBO, though I have plans to get at least one traditional kilt (when she's not looking) .
I'm a Stewart and according to professional research done by a great uncle in the 1950s which traced us back to around 1066, somewhere along the line, we are descended from the Royal House but a loooong way back.
That gives me the problem of which of the many Stewart Tartans do I wear! the most common Stewart Tartans are mass produced and everywhere, the Royal Stewart Tartan is a bit chocolate box or should I say, shortbread box, for me. Hunting Stewart is also one of the standard Hire Kilt colours. So I will have to do a bit more research as to what I will get eventually.
I could also wear the Royal Air Force Tartan, If I applied for permission from them, But it is a light blue tartan which I'm not sure I like.
I'm looking at making my own Sgian Brew based on a "Waiters friend", this is because even though we are allowed Sgian Dhubs under UK law, many Police don't know and technically, you can be arrested for waving a pen around if they decide it's a weapon!

from Scotland.
I can't help much with the Stewart tartans but no doubt someone who can will be along soon.
When I cross the border to do some volunteering at Solway Aviation Museum at Carlisle Airport I usually wear my Royal Air Force tartan kilt.

Welcome from the northwest corner of the USA. I know there are some rarer Stewart tartans out there, and as Cessna said, I`m sure you will be informed. I am a fan of the Stewart Hunting in the weathered colors. Congrats on getting your first kilt!

As was said there will be some suggestions for you and here is the first. I, too, am a member of the Stewart clan and here are 2 Stewart tartans that are not as common.
The first is Stewart "old Sett" modern colorway and the other is Stewart Navy.
I also have the Stewart Hunting in the ancient colorway
Wow these 2 photos loaded directly from my picture file on the computer not from an outside source.

Hello from Vitoria Brazil! Sailortats, I like that Stewart Navy for some reason . Let us know the one you choose The Q!
