Hi, Zach, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
Most of my life I have lived on the coast, in Cape Town and in Port Elizabeth, but I have spent a fair amount of time living in the drier parts of South Africa, which are in many respects like Arizona.
The main difference is that in those areas we tend to raise sheep rather than cattle.
