Greetings from Florida
I have been lurking for a while and only today decided to make an account and start posting. I have been interested in kilts for quite a while, but only recently stared seriously considering them. You see, I have no Scottish heritage and I always thought it would be in bad taste for me to wear a tartan that I cannot claim any affiliation.
A while back, I joined a running club called the Hash House Harriers. Through this I came to realize that a lot of my fellow hashers were also kilted. Digging even deeper and I found out that we have two registered tartans! You can see the 'Hunting' version of our tartan as my avatar.
Now I have a tartan that means something to me, so I started lurking here and searching for my first kilt. I decided to go with a Sport Kilt because they had my tartan in Poly-Viscous in stock. I just got the confirmation that it hash been shipped and I am awaiting delivery on Monday. I suppose I am now Jonesing.
I have been talking to RockyR at USA Kilts for a little over a week, now. I will be attending a wedding at the end of the year and I want a nice semi-formal kilted outfit to wear. The bride's family is Scottish and I want to make sure I don't look like I am making fun of them or anything. I also want to be have an outfit that I can wear to other formal events when I need to. Based on the threads I have read here and my experience dealing with Rocky, I am convinced that USA Kilts will take care of me.
I have decided to go with USK's "5 Yard Wool" package with some slight modifications. First being that I will be getting the HHH Hunting tartan custom woven. Second, I will be upgrading the jacket/vest combo to the Kilkenny style instead of the Argyll. The second is mostly because I'm too OCD to live with the square buttonos not being lined up all the time...
Anyway, that's me and my first post. I'm excited to become a apart of this great community and more importantly to start wearing kilts more regularly. Thanks to everyone. Feel free to ask me anything.
Cheers,
-J

You've got it. Interestingly enough, I grew up not far from Daytona but have been living in Tallahassee for about eleven years now.

From Indianapolis!
I have family in Florida around the Sarasota area. I love it down there, even thought about attending the Ringling College of Art & Design, but I couldn't leave my family up here.
Any who, glad to have you here!
