Greetings from Georgia
Hello all,
First, I want to express my appreciation to all the members of X Marks for the information and advice so freely shared in the forums. I stumbled across X Marks while looking for pics of custom kilt pins, and was impressed by the civility and good cheer, along with the warm welcomes to everyone of various heritages. Several months later, I had to join. With that said, a little about myself.
I am of Irish heritage on my father's side, with an instilled humble pride of that blood passed down from him (from the days of N.I.N.A.). I have been in Law Enforcement for 10 years and have been a member of the Honor Guard for the duration. At every L.E. funeral that I attended, the sound of the pipes pulled at my soul. When hiring a piper for my wedding (prior to our honeymoon in Ireland!), a gentleman that I now consider a close friend, I found out that he gave lessons; fast forward, and I am now the piper for our Honor Guard.
Thanks to all the members who posted great pics and articles that I took ideas from (albeit without their knowledge), and to Matt Newsome for his experience and attention to detail while I was ordering my kilts from him in NC.
Sláinte,
Edwin

Re: Greetings from Georgia
Edwin: Welcome to the blog and "thank you" for your service in law enforcement. I know what you mean about the pipes. I love the sound. Unfortunately, I don't play them.
Every year I spend time around Valdosta, GA. My wife's rather extensive family is geographically centered just over the border in Jasper, FL.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Welcome from Indiana. I am a retired Campus Police Officer and am in the very beginning stage of learning the GHP's. My wife and I attend the Stone Mountain Highland Games every year and certainly enjoy our visits to your state.
