Greetings from Greenville, SC
I joined this forum to thank you guys for all the great information and opinions I've been reading the past few days.
I get quite hot while hiking in the area, even during winter. I hit on the idea of a kilt for hiking to help keep cool without risking arrest ;) . Turns out I'm not the only one thinking of kilts!
Out of makers of casual and contemporary kilts I've learned about, the two that best meet my requirements in my entry-level price range are the Mountain Hardware's ElKommando and Sport Kilt's Sport and Hiking Kilts.
I'm leaning toward the ElKommando (still available directly from Mountain Hardware) because I happen to like the solid color. I wish they used velcro instead of snaps, but that's not a deal breaker. I also wish they had more color choices, but that's also not a deal breaker. I like the Sport Kilts, the use of velcro, and the better variety of color choices. I may end up getting both eventually.
I also considered Utilikilts and USA Kilts (both well-regarded here), but the Utilikilts are out of my starter price range and USA Kilts doesn't have an option for pockets .
Thanks again!
Mark

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I went ahead and ordered an ElKommando (a bit sooner than planned) because I could only find one left in my size, and I'm not waiting until next season.
