Greetings from a Michigan Scot
Hello,
It is nice to belong to a group of like minded people and I hope I will learn much from all of you. Currently I do not own or have ever worn a Kilt, but that is about to change. I plan on attending "The Gathering" in Scotland this July and would like to join the parade of Clans. So, I have many questions. Since I am new to this you can imagin my total lack of knowledge. I want to purchase a Kilt to wear in the parade but I am not sure how long it takes to order and receive a Kilt. Where do I go to get one that is of good quailty and reasonable price? Is there a good Kilt maker in Michigan or if not how do I get measured for a kilt? What accessories do I need to be a respectible Scot in the Parade? How do you put on a kilt? (Sill question I guess but never having worn one .....) Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appricated. Only 69 days to "The Gathering"
Thanks
Robert Stewart

Ceud měle fŕilte!
from the Old Dominion State!
I suggest you contact Rocky at USA Kilts and place a rush order for a semi trad in Stewart Hunting or Black.
Here’s a thread on XMarkers attending the Gathering. Hope to meet up with you there.
Check out these threads about kilts.

Mael Coluim's suggestion is a good one regarding Rocky at USA Kilts. There is a limit to the number of tartans available, and the kilt is made from a high quality Poly Viscose, not wool... but they are made to measure, in a traditional style, won't cost an arm and a leg, and can be made "rush" for a bit extra.
If you want a traditional, hand-sewn, 16 oz. wool kilt in a family/clan tartan, it can take a couple of months to nearly a year depending on the wait-list for the kiltmaker you've chosen and the availability of the tartan.
You many want to post specific questions on the "Kilt Advice" forum. You'll get great advice that way!
Best of luck and welcome from Savannah, GA.
