    Welcome to the "Great Rabble"!

You'll get both opinions here. I far prefer and recommend 'tucked in' so that it doesn't look so strange, but others will likely disagree.

What type of kilt is it? Conservative Scots with tartan kilts tend to tuck.

It痴 a Scottish designer from amazon brown utility kilt. Already looking for my next one. Who knew how comfortable they are. Well I am a new fan and have been looking at this site. So I joined it. Looks like a lot of good people here.

Welcome from the other side of the Atlantic. I'm a Scotsman living in the English midlands. (At this moment, wearing a tartan kilt with shirt tucked in!)

    Welcome from Southern California!

(Originally from West Virginia, so we're neighbors.)

About the tucked/untucked, traditionally it would always be tucked. Until modern times men wouldn't generally go out without vest/waistcoat, so of course the shirt would be tucked into the kilt or trousers.

Here's a group of Scottish pipers in the 1960s wearing either waistcoat or tucked shirt.

But nowadays with more casual kiltwearing, with rugby shirts and soccer shirts etc it's common to have the shirt untucked.

At rugby, I'm tucked but the others aren't
