    Greetings from Minnesota!

    Greetings everyone.

My name is David Staehlin. I live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota, USA.

I've enjoyed reading the conversations here on the X Marks the Scot boards over the last several weeks.

After losing 140 pounds, I can once again fit in the two Utilikilts that I had bought six years ago. I had also recently purchased three other sport utility kilts (DNKE). I decided that kilts are so comfortable that I've been wearing them almost exclusively for three weeks, including to work.

I now have two tartans on order. One is a USA tartan in a poly-blend from Sportkilts and the other is a MacKenzie Modern in wool from X Marks advertiser The Celtic Croft, which is local to me. The USA tartan is scheduled to be delivered this Thursday. The MacKenzie Modern is being made in Scotland and I'm just 2 weeks into a 4 to 8 week wait. I'm looking forward to both--especially the MacKenzie.

A couple of days ago I was scheduled to make a presentation to my executive vice president and her direct reports. I was going to wear trousers, but after nearly three weeks wearing kilts, I decided that the trousers were just too uncomfortable. My EVP had seen me in a kilt and complimented me on it, so I wore a kilt for the presentation. I'm glad I did as her manager--another executive vice president--showed up unexpectedly from out of town. He's was born in Glasgow and emigrated from Scotland to the United States. He was very interested in my kilt and (somewhat distant) Scottish heritage. I was thrilled that I had some very good face time with a very senior manager. Out of several thousand people reporting up to him, he'll remember me.

That's enough about me for now. I'm looking forward to being a member of the X Marks community.

Welcome aboard. I think you will really like the MacKenzie. I was wearing a sportkilt today which was fine for hiking, but not nearly as sharp as either my 5 yard or 8 yard wool kilts.

Thank you for the welcome, John. I'm sure you're right that I'll like the MacKenzie. It's about 5 yards. I'm really looking forward to receiving that one.

Thank you for your service in the Navy. I'm a Navy vet having served as a Radioman and as a Supply Corps officer. I've joined the Scottish-American Military Society and just received my membership card in the mail today.
