Greetings from Northern California
My name is Mike, and I've been attending the Scottish Games here in the Bay Area (California) since I was a kid (I'm in my mid-40's now). I think it's been rubbing off on me, since I find myself disturbingly determined to acquire a kilt. I have lowland and highland ancestry, and even a set of parlor pipes...I guess it was just a matter of time before I kilted up and joined a rabble! I have started down the rabbit hole of determining what I need to buy and researching how I might wear one properly. This forum has been tremendously helpful so far, so I figured it was time to sign up. Looking forward to gaining more insight from you all!

Welcome!
Myself and several other XMarks members were at Pleasanton this past weekend attending the Caledonian Club of San Francisco games, we might have seen each other and not known it.
I was playing with the Long Beach Pipe Band, while other members were with Clan booths, doing Country Dancing, or any of the ways of having fun there.
Myself, I first attended these Games in the late 1970s when they were held in Santa Rosa.
I have a set of parlour pipes too! They're great fun to play. Mine are around 100 years old. I considered bringing them up to Pleasanton but I ended up leaving them down in SoCal.

Thank you all very much!
OC Richard, my first (Caledonian Club) Games were also when they were in Santa Rosa right around the late 70's or early 80's. Great memories. My grandmother used to be heavily involved in the Caledonian Club Games, including back in the Santa Rosa era. We very well may have walked right by each other in Pleasanton...I think I hit every tent, event, and meat pie booth! My Pleasanton experiences in recent years have made me laser-focused on making sure my kilt setup is able to be somewhat comfortable in hot weather!
