Greetings From Pennsylvania!
Hello all,
My name is Jake, from the south-eastern part of Pennsylvania. I have a little bit of Scottish and Irish heritage, but I'm a typical "Heinz 57" American. My other roots trace to England, Germany, Switzerland, the Native Americans, and even the Pennsylvanian Dutch (and of course, my last name is French). Because of this, I suppose I don't have a particular clan tartan to which I can associate myself, but that's okay because there are some universal tartans I quite like.
I've been lurking around the site for about a month now and have learned a great deal of information thanks to everyone on here, and I happily anticipate learning a great deal more. I've always been interested in kilts, but it wasn't until recently that I actually took the time to start looking into them as a daily-worn garment. My journey originally started with my interest an a utility-type kilt (which will be my first thanks to Robert Pel!), because of how much sense they make from an anatomical perspective, and the cargo pockets are an added benefit. But my appreciation for all varieties of kilts has been growing more and more. I do plan to gradually build up a collection of kilts, ranging from utility type kilts to the more traditional type, and even a few great kilts (I've grown especially fond of these because of their functionality).
Finally, I wanted to make a point to say that this is a community with which I will be proud to be a part of. I've seen nothing but courtesy and honesty here, and I can't ask for more than that. I hope I'll be a welcomed addition to this clan. I use the word clan, because a clan in its most literal sense is a closely-knit family, and a family is exactly what I would describe this community as.
Cheers!
