Greetings from Reno, Nevada!
Greetings from the wife of a kilt enthusiast! I joined the forum a while back just to be able to view the posts that my wonderful hubby, richrail, was talking about. His day does not start until he has perused the boards for new posts. Some people choose coffee, but he awakes to X Marks. I admit, I've neglected to introduce myself and have spent a wee bit of time simply being a lurker. For shame.
I've taken to lovingly referring to my husband as a "peacock." Since discovering kilts, he has been able to satisfy his desire to dress well and embrace fashion on a whole new level. There is rarely a day when he is off work that he is not kilted. Admittedly, I look rather dowdy next to him on most days... the peahen is always so drab next to her mate.
When we were first married, Richard worked in banking and he did not dress well simply for the job, but the job gave him opportunity to express his keen fashion sense. After he left that job to work in warehousing and then the railroad, there simply was no outlet for him to dress better than the average warehouseman or trainman -- who wants to ruin nice clothes?
Enter the kilt and the X Marks. My husband has never been so happy. He is always searching and planning for his next kilt and the related attire. The peacock gets to strut with tail in full fan! Of course, I've had to step up my game a bit not to be terribly outdone. I have joined in the fun on a much smaller scale, and have a few kilted skirts and an arisaid. I rarely look as wonderful as my fine husband, but I'm OK with that. I get the privilege of having a much better view what he does, AND that peacock is mine, ladies!
Thanks X Marks for being such a terrific community for kilt enthusiasts ... transforming the naive into the well versed in just a matter of months.

Why thank you, kind sir. A lass must do what she can to keep up with her peacock.

You are both beautiful and elegant, no wonder he has to preen! The peacock needs to keep his plumage up to snuff to match his peahen!
So glad you have joined the rabble - definitely more fun than being a lurker.

Hi, Arboribabe, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
You are welcome to look as dowdy as you wish, but when you are in tartan you look every bit as smart (and twice as fetching) as your hubby.
Keep it up!
Regards,
Mike
