Greetings from scorching Phoenix, AZ
Hello fellow kilties-
I came across this site while researching information on kilts and the wearing of them. I started wearing Utilikilts about 3 years ago for hiking and walking around Phoenix, AZ. earlier this year I branched out and have purchased 4 8yd kilts in various tartans. I am not Scottish but I like the look and feel of wearing kilts. Maybe, as I have grown older I am less concerned about what people think when they see me in a kilt and when I do wear them I get a lot of compliments. Living in Phoenix I can really only wear my Utilikilts during the summer but once the temps drop below 90 I can wear my wool kilts with comfort. I am having a blast wearing them even though I know I stand out at social and cultural events but I figure that at 6-6 I stand out anyway so why not go all out. I wore two of my kilts during a trip to Seattle in June and wore them all the time everywhere and I plan to wear them when I go to Scotland next May. I hear that most Scots do not wear kilts everyday, saving them mostly for formal occasions but I plan to wear mine anyway. Even thinking of wearing mine on the flight over though I will probably change on the plane into something more comfortable to sleep in on the overnight flight. I look forward to reading your posts and to finding out more about the culture of kilt wearing.

Welcome to the forum, haven't worn my kilt for around 6 weeks because of the recent heatwave in southern Britain, so for once I can empathise with you 😰. Hope you enjoy yourself on your holiday in Scotland.

Well met and welcome Tallman. You fit about 20 % of the group here with your height. You fit 100 % of us that project confidence while kilted in public. Funny how that works. Glad to have you with us and await the tales you bring back from your Scotland trip.
