Greetings and Slainte- Checking in from Maryland
Good Day Everyone,
I am a piper and Celtic/American from Ellicott City, MD. Originally from the suburbs of the "People Republic of Massachusetts." Our family relocated here from Arlington, MA 12 years ago.
I was thrilled to find a site that offered such in-depth kilt resources. As a piper I've worn a few in my day, but now am looking to get a top quality custom made kilt for semi-formal/formal occaisions. There are days I don't want to wear my band's tartan.
I am also looking for a nice durable (good quality) kilt for pubs and such, so my nice band kilt doesn't get ruined. Too many St. Patrick's day celebrations with drunken women spilling beer on my gear.
Input welcome

Welcome aboard from Frederick. Be sure to keep an eye out for our local kilt nights. We'd be glad to have you join us.

Welcome to Xmarks from your neighbor to the south. There are quite a few excellent kiltmakers wo are members here. Barb Tewksbury and Matt Newsome are two. We also have Steve from Freedom Kilts, and Rocky of USA kilts. You can not go wrong with any of these. But in my opinion, Rocky's polyviscose kilts can't be beat for a pub crawling kilt. They are machine washable. Steves kilts are more non traditional, but he does make tartan kilts

Welcome for just north of the Mason Dixon Line.
As Dave Dove says keep an eye out for local kilt nights/afternoons. We were at the Rams Head in Savage a couple of week ago. If you know of any places in your area to get together for a meal, some drink and good conversation with fellow kilties and spouses let us know.
