Greetings from South Carolina
I've been interested in my family's Scottish heritage for quite some time, but last year we decided to take the plunge and go to our first Scottish games. Within minutes, we were hooked and now there's no going back. Looking into purchasing my first kilt and my wife (who has a talent for anything textile related) is interested in learning to make one as well. This seems like a vibrant online community and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

Welcome to the site Rory. If, as you say, you wife is good with all things textile then you should definitely buy Barbara Tewksbury's book on kilt making. Your wife, or you, would then be able to make kilts for you and skirts for herself and you would save bundles of money over time. See Barbara's ad to the right of this page.

I've been considering purchasing that book anyway, but given your recommendation, I went ahead and ordered it just now. Really looking forward to it!
