Greetings from South Florida
Hello to all. I am Pete from Tamarac, Florida. Relatively new to the kilt world, as of January 2012, but jumping in with both feet. I have found this blog and it's members to be a terrific resource and sounding board.
Middle aged African American guy who loves the look, freedom, and personal statement one makes when wearing a kilt. My taste lean towards modern kilts, but with a twist twords traditional wear for more formal occasions. Building my wardrobe and accessories to be ready for all occasions.
Up to wearing kilts about 90% of the time and the general response is overwhelmingly positive and fun. Learning to handle the questions with a smile and wit. I never knew people were so inquisitive about my underwear habits! I get the skirt crack on occasion, but letting them know it is a skirt only if I am wearing pumps is a great point of clarification.
Working on getting my partner to give kilts a try. May be on the formal night of our next cruse.
Be well and happy.

Very true! But since I'm not a local to Orangeburg either, I have a blast being kilted when I'm not running with my squad. The looks alone are worth it, especially when you catch a younger lass giving you a once over and then blushing a bit when she realizes that you saw her! Most of the ladies do seem to like it with the exception of one regular at the coffee shop that I frequent. Even got my missus a "Yes, I do wear the pants in this relationship!" tee for Christmas.
