Greetings from Tacoma, WA
Hello Everyone.
Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone already here and get a 1st post under my belt.
I am not yet a kilt owner, but very proud of my family history that we've traced back to Glamis, Angus County, Scotland. John Ross was a Jacobite soldier captured in Preston 1715 and transported to Hanover, Virginia 1716 as an indentured servant aboard Ship Friendship of Belfast. He was property of the sheriff, but within 3 months after his arrival the sheriff died leaving a bit of land to John Ross. He was likely a Jacobite sympathizer. From this John Ross my family came into existence.
I am currently Deputy Commissioner of Clan Ross Western Washington and looking forward to all the NW Highland Games this summer. But first, I must prepare ... Quick a kilt, toss me the sian bubh ... NO! wait hand it gently to me. I must dress accordingly!
I've been reading on these forums for a while and I am currently inquiring about a Barbara Tewksbury kilt. I mean, the pictures you all have posted of her work is amazing. There are several other makers that I'd like to reach out to as well. A Lass (Where!?!) ... No, "Alas", I need something quickly for this year's games. I have been attempting research on Burnett & Struth's Scots Regalia. I've had mixed success as far as images and reviews, but it seems like they are reputable for quickly producing quality kilts. I'll post this again elsewhere, but any experience with them?
Nice to meet everyone. I look forward to become more a part of discussions here. One day I'll look back at this post and think "what a naïve sot I was".

I have viewed the website, but admittedly haven't given it any decent lookover. I have heard good things from several board members. I might need to spend time tonight doing some proper research and picture searches about USA Kilts.

Welcome, JRoss, from Vancouver, WA. If you're ever down this way on the last Tuesday of the month we have a regular, informal, meeting at the Brass Horse Pub in Portland. Consider yourself and your friends invited.
Studies have shown that women who gain a few pounds live longer than men who mention it.

A big reason for me to come out from lurking in the shadows as a non-member was that I noticed such a large community of kilt wearers from the NW. I look forward to meeting everyone and perhaps sharing a beverage or eight.
