Greetings from Vancouver, WA
Hi to everyone,
I'll start out with a bit of personal info. I'm a grandfather (could be a great-grandfather if either of my two university graduate grandkids would get married and get to work instead of going to grad school) of 8 kids (two biological and the others were previously used) and , currently, 15 grandchildren. I'm a retired crime scene tech and former police officer.
I've recently got into my Scottish heritage. I come from a direct descent of Young's from Roxburgh, Scotland. I've had the opportunity to go to several Highland Games in the Portland, OR area and will be going south to Douglas Co, OR Games next week.
Directly due to expenses incurred from my herd of kids and grandkids I have opted for a relatively inexpensive kilt. It is made to order to my measurements but in less than the highest grade wool and so forth. It is a Young Modern tartan. Some day I hope to upgrade to a quality kilt and at that time I will go for a semi-formal to formal outfit. Currently it's the casual look for me.
It appears I have a lot of reading and learning to do on this forum so will get right to work. Glad I have found a place where I can get quality answers to my kilt questions.

Welcome!
My hero, role-model and perpetually antagonistic older brother is a member of your city's finest blue gentlemen, and a SWAT guy. How long have you been retired? You might know the guy who use to beat the crap out of me when I was a kid!

Hi, I retired in March of 2008. Small world, huh?
