Greetings from Vermont
Hello Everyone!
Thank you for allowing me to Join!
I am about 20% Irish and 16% Scottish! I have always loved the Irish and Scottish culture, accents and kilts. Recently I found out someone I know wears kilts on occasions and he and a mutual friend wore them to a recent gathering I was at. I figured now is the time to jump in kilt wearing! I will look around into the forums, as I am sure there are countless threads of people in my same situation, asking about what to get as a first kilt, but not spending too much. I don't want to get something that looks cheap or fake. Preference towards ready made and available soon, versus made to order so I can jump right in. If you want to throw out any suggestions, I accept them all, otherwise I will look definitely dive into the threads here and reap the wisdom of others in my situation throughout time.
Thank you very much!
Nate

Failte from the Home of the Blues!
Try USA Kilts casual or semi-traditional kilts for something of good quality but inexpensive. They are mostly made to measure but there is a rush option of three weeks. It is worth the wait. They also sell some already made casual kilts on their website.

They were on the top of my list to get some from. Thank you. I appreciate the input. I may get an instock casual kilt as a starter then go for made to measure with a specific tartan. Can't wait!
Thank you again!

Hello and welcome from Southern California. I also suggest USA Kilts (I own 3), but I think you will like the semi-trad better than the casual. But give them a call and talk about it, they are great people.

Welcome!
Glad to hear you joined up! Enjoy the comfort of kilts! You might like to look into ex-hire kilts as well for a start.. a bit less expense outlay for a 100% wool kilt. Typically the construction is not up to traditional bespoke standard, but you don't mind wearing it more often than an expensive kilt!
I have gotten to wear I am wearing my kilts nearly every day after work, and on fridays at work. Spend most weekends kilted now. Darn comfortable!
Enjoy your kilted adventures!
PS... lived in Milton Vermont for 4 years... loved it!
