Greetings from Washington D.C.!
Greetings from Washington D.C.!
I originally hail from Selah, WA, but have been stationed in Washington D.C. for a little over two years now. Since a young boy, I’ve been interested in my Irish (and potentially Scots) heritage from my mom’s side of the family. I’ve wanted to wear a kilt since high school, and have researched the subject off and on since then, but given the cost of investing in a quality kilt, I only recently justified the purchase of one for my upcoming nuptials. To be sure, I’ll also be incorporating it into my casual and work wardrobes.
I’ve visited the forum quite a bit and read through different discussions from pressing kilts and kilt making to opinions on ghillie brogues, but finally decided to join recently given that I’m soon to be counted amongst the proud, kilt-wearing few; generally, I’m not one to be very social on online forums, social media, and the like, but I’ll probably join in here and there on any discussions on which I am especially opinionated…
Finally, I want to pass along my appreciation for this online community and the commitment to preserving the unique history of the kilt and proudly defending it as more than just a costume. I really appreciate the small, tight-knit feel of the community and the support for small business owners, especially the independent craftsmen and craftswomen who keep us clothed (thank God!).
Sláinte!

Well met and welcome new friend. Without the kilt, we'd be only humans. Glad to have you with us.
