    On the haggis topic...

Can anyone direct me to a good online store for some tasty haggis!? I've never actually had the pleasure of eating any,and would love to try it out. Plus if i can get the tastiest of tasty haggis,i might ACTUALLY be able to convince my roomate to eat more then just one bite (the bite before i tell him what it is).Any advice would,of course,be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

    hi CJ,

seems that i saw a thread here not too long age that included several recipies for haggis that didn't seem too onerous to cook. just takes a stovetop if i recall. might give that a try.

p.s. 'course then your roomie would KNOW what he/she was biting into!

The tinned haggis is pretty yummy over mashed potatoes- and quick, too! It's a little oily to me though.

The stovetop recipe, FWIW, is actually mock haggis, properly made haggis yields 10-20 pounds of sausage! And requires parts of a sheep I'll eat but not think about, thanks.

SHAY you win the prise! You have struckt the exact reason my romate REFUSES to eat any...he allready knows what goes in them. But seriously, this was all helpfull from all of you, thanks again, unfortunatly america isn't that big on actuall authenticity,so finding haggis in anything but a specialtys store will be rather complicated, and chances are even the specialty store may not sell authentic haggis. So It looks like either "mock haggis",or (in his best spy action movie voice) a cirtain "shipment" coming in from scottland...muah ah ah ah ahhhh....ahem....yea... Anyway, thanks again for the input.

    Cool Haggis

The best haggis I know of is made by Charles Lamb or Lamb etc. Not too much salt or fat. Really oatmeally (if that's a word) Right now I have 20lbs of the links in my freezer. Lamb etc is in Oregon, but he ships anywhere.

Before you try the canned Haggis, check with the local butchers in your area, and see if they make fresh Haggis. Nothing beats a well made fresh Haggis. In my mind I would think canned haggis measures up there with Spam rather than with a well cooked Ham.
