Hail from Appalachian NC
Hi Everybody,
I don't wear a kilt, and I will never wear a kilt. But I do love to see a man in a kilt. As it happens, I am a female joining a kiltwearers' online community. I just couldn't stay out because you seem to have such a lot of fun here.
My name is Abigail. I'm a graduate of various sciences and Public Health, and am enjoying "early retirement" (ahermunemployment) with my lucky black cat Barnabas in western NC. I am a happy resident of the home of the Scottish Tartans Museum, and enjoy volunteering in such capacities as answering "what are my colors?" at Highland Games, and "where is the museum?" behind the counter in the Museum Gift Shop. I appreciate the knowledge preserved and disseminated through the Museum, and am always learning. I think it's important for those of Scots and related heritage to know where we came from. Pedigrees aren't just for nobility, or purebred animals! As many of my ancestors probably arrived as huddled, inglorious, indentured mobs on this continent, and their presence only vaguely made the history books I was taught from in school, I think it's of value to try to understand this "mob" from which so many of us spring, for its virtues and vices and experiences.
I am best known to this public as the partner in knitting and sweetheart to Ryan Ross, bonnet maker and kilt wearer extraordinaire. He taught me to knit some 15 months ago and gave me a hobby I strongly prefer to not knitting. When he realized his dream of creating a historical highland-style broadbonnet, I didn't know what it would turn into, but I knew I was witnessing the beginning of something which would make a few dedicated kilties very, very happy. I now share Ross' passion for providing high-quality hand-crafted headgear to the kilted faithful- one bonnet at a time.
I prefer life among the kilted, and the Scottishly-inclined. I am proud to be a contingent of this well-reputed online community. I have enjoyed meeting a few of you at Highland Games, and wear the Dandelion plant badge in solidarity. I chose this user name because it's the Gaelic name of my confirmation Saint, Clare of Assisi, who I think is quite cool. I look forward to making your acquaintance and joining the rabble!

Best wishes, Abigail

So good to see you online! Jeannie and I enjoyed catching up with you and Ryan at the STM Burns Supper. We look forward to seeing you at some of the Games this summer.

You've finally joined us, eh? You went from photographer-at-large at G'father to volunteer at the Museum, and have now completed your life-quest by joining XMarks.
Welcome aboard!
