Hail from San Jose, California
Hello!
I'm a long time lurker who has finally decided to stop being so lazy and actually sign up. I'm a bit different from your average kilt-wearer, seeing as how I'm a fullblooded 1st generation Vietnamese-American, being born here in the Bay Area to my immigrant parents. I first started becoming interested in Celtic cultures about three years ago before I got my first kilt, a Stillwater Thrifty (courtesy of the amazing Jerry.) With a keen eye on Ebay, I've slowly pieced together a patchwork formal outfit too. Still being in my high school years, I'm seen as a bit of an eccentric, in the best way possible, however, and still just own acrylic kilts. I don't think my parents would be too keen on spending 500+ dollars on a 16 oz. tank. I hope to be a productive and insightful member in this wonderful community of such fine ladies and gentlemen!
Sláinte!

Welcome to the Boards.
We have loads of different people on here, full blooded Scots, several generations removed, married into, just like kilts, etc, so you'll fit right in.

from Chicago. Keep you eye on eBay. I've found handmade 16 oz kilts there (used) for about $100.

from the "Big South Fork" of the Cumberland River, north central Tennessee!
There are folks here who'd prefer that no-one but someone of long Scottish descent and currently living in the Scottish Highlands should wear a kilt (and even then only occasionally for special events) to those who think anyone and everyone one should wear one because "its just another piece of clothing" -- and every viewpoint in-between. Have respect for yourself and those deserving of your respect will respect you too. Have fun; Happy kilting!
