I have been lurking for a long time and finally decided I really should join. I have appreciated the wealth of information I have obtained from forum members as I have done research on kilt-related topics.
My primary interest is historical Scottish portrayal but I will proudly wear a kilt any time I think I can do so without causing too much commotion here in French LouisianaI am currently the Louisiana Sept Chief for the international Clann of the Wolf. Clann Wolf does mid-1700s Scottish living history- the time before clan tartans and when lots of pointy things were carried about the body
I currently own three philabegs, a great kilt and two modern kilts plus assorted 18th century vests, jackets, knit bonnets and accoutrements. In addition to Clann encampments and the local Celtic Fest, I've been to the Houston (TX) and Jackson (MS) festivals and have thought about going to one in the Dallas area. By surname, I might be part of Clan MacFarlane but that is not confirmed. As a Boy Scout Wood Badge holder, I am an honorary member of Clan MacLaren. The name Morgan has been given to at least one person in every generation of my wife's back to the 1500s so there may be some related tie there as well. By DNA, I am 63% Scot.
The attached picture may not be my most historically correct portrayal but it gives you an idea. (Actually this was taken on Clan Mustard Day a few weeks ago when for fun a number of us wear the color referenced and get together for a Tubular Meats lunch at a annual redezvous encampment in Florida.) Please understand that as a Clann Wolf Sept Chief I wear a single feather at Clann functions but take it off at other times in respect for legitimate Clan leadership. I am happy to have joined this group.
