Hello From Alabama!
Hello Everyone,
I accidently stumbled across this website today and was thrilled to find it, and immediately joined!
Although I live here in Alabama, and am originally from here, I had the good fortune to live in the U.K. for a few years and was in a bagpipe band over there. My love affair with the kilt started long before that though, many years ago when I learned that my family came from Glencoe, Scotland (Clan Henderson).
I'm looking forward to getting to know my fellow kilt-lovers and wearers on the board. Thank you for letting me join!

Greetings Lass,
Although originally from Illinois I have had the good fortune to wind up in Montgomery.
Welcome and well met. I am working on my 4th kilt and finished an Argyll jacket recently.
The rabble meets way to infrequently for my taste so your presence is well appreciated.
Walt
an uncle by marriage was a Henderson as well and gloried in the name MacAlpine Cameron Henderson; I recall he composed poems of the bloody night when MacDonald died in the snow and blood

Wow! Thank you folks for all the warm welcomes! This has to be one of the friendliest forums I've ever come across on the 'net!
Walt, I was amazed to read your post about your uncle and the poems he composed about the Glencoe Massacre. Of course, when one thinks of the Massacre, they mostly associate it with the Clan MacDonald and do not realize there were Hendersons there as well. In fact, to quote a portion about the Hendersons from scotclans.com (I hope I'm not breaking any rules here. If I am, please just delete my post):
"In the years with the MacDonalds, it became tradition that the Hendersons, known for their size and strength, formed the personal bodyguard of the chief. Standing six feet and seven inches tall, the powerful Big Henderson of the Chanters was MacLain's piper and protector, and fell with the chief in the cold February night of 1692 in the Massacre of Glencoe, the treacherous outrage ordered by King William of Orange."
Only complaint I have is why couldn't I have inherited some of Big Henderson's size? Seriously, I can't even reach my top kitchen cupboards without dragging a chair over to stand on! I feel soooooooooo cheated! Now, you know why I chose the screen name of WeeLass! haha!
Again, thank you all for the very warm welcome. I am so looking forward to being a part of this forum!
Sheila
