Hello From Another Newbie
Greetings; my name is Robin Upton and will be posting under the name Old Soldier. I as born & raised in the county of Glengarry, Canada, which is said to be more Scottish than Scotland. I served in the Fort Henry Guard in my student years where my interest in history and uniforms was developed. I went on to serve for a time in the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, and in 1976, researched and raised a re-enactment unit of the Royal Highland Emigrant Regt, a Loyalist Highland Regt that served during the American Revolutionary War. Through my work on the RHE I began to research and source dress uniform items, both historical and contemporary, that had been lost, were not readily available or were being made incorrectly. In 1987, I formed a business, Musket, Fife & Drum, to carry out this work on a full time basis. In 1998, with the aquisistion of Coghlin Military Leather the business became Coghlin & Upton Military Accoutrements. Much of our business concentrated on Highland Regiments as they have the greatest demand for ceremonial uniforming. In 2013, I sold my business and am now only involved in consultation services. I've followed X Marks the Scot for a number of years and have had the pleasure of working with some of your members. I look forward to participating in your forum.
