Hello from Belgium
Hello U all !
It seemed appropriate to introduce myself, also it gives me an opportunity to discover the more technical aspects of participating on a forum. I live in Belgium, in a small provincial town not that far from Brussels. Being in the millitary, one of my hobbies is historic research (well, to be understood as "reads a lot on"...), but i'm also very interested in other cultures, sociology.
I never visited Scotland, but heard a lot of it, from collegues who trained there, or friends who did visit the Highlands. I think one day i just have to cross the Northsea to discover the hills , the lochs and the castles...
So why me on this forum, not being Scottish or having Scottish ancestry that is ? Well, as so many in my country, i may have been "bitten" by the Scottish culture. Although it's mostly the Whisky tasting clubs in Belgium who are extremely popular, I myself are not a fan of that fine liquor. In a few weeks there is a big Scottish weekend nearby (Alden Biesen Castle) and i am preparing So I read a lot about kilts, its history, the clansmen, famous battles such as Culloden and Prestonpans. And I started putting together a great kilt. So i try to post some pictures of my first kilt experience, and I will be most happy with the comments of all you Gentlemen.
Cheers

Welcome! I was in your beautiful & very welcoming country in June visiting my wife's cousins ... Kortrijk, Lendelede, Izegem, Aalbeke, & numerous others ... also a wonderful restaurant called Petrouska in Roeselare run by a couple we met when holidaying in Dominican Republic (proof of a VERY small world). The beer & the food were SO good everywhere, that my kilts don't fit now!!!
Ron.
