Hello from Buffalo NY
Hello from South Buffalo. What a great site this is. I happened to find this site by chance recently. I happens that I was born and raised in a part of Buffalo with very strong Irish roots known as the Old First Ward. This year my husband and a few friends decided to wear kilts during our neighborhoods annual St Patricks parade. Went to fabric store & picked cheap plaid cotton and with a video found on YouTube whipped up 3 kilts. They didn't come out too bad (at least that's what I thought when I finished ) Decided to keep looking for more info on kilts. I was amazed at the history, pride & kinship that a kilt creates. Now armed with this site and Barb T's book I can't to get started on making real kilts for next year. Thank for all the great advice and support that everyone on this site offers. Wish me luck.

from Chicago. If you search this site for x-kilt, you can download instructions. If you're interested in a traditionally made kilt, you can't do any better than Barb Tewksbury's "the Art of Kiltmaking."
