Hello from Calgary, Canada
A chàirdean,
Thanks for being here for all of us with questions! From what I've read so far it looks like a positive and supportive community.
My family/clan tartan: Stewart. My father was a highland dancer and wore Dress Stewart; I'm more of a Black Stewart kind of guy. I also want to wear MacLaren because I am a Scouter with Scouts Canada and MacLaren is the tartan of Gilwell Park and the tartan on the Wood Badge II / Gilwell necker. I also love the Maple Leaf tartan because... Canada! This will probably be my first kilt of my own (I have worn my dad's kilt but it doesn't fit any more for... reasons ). I'll have questions about specific kilts in another thread.
My dram: Classic Bruichladdich. Or Laphroaig Quarter Cask. Or Bowmore 12. Depends on what's on sale. One day I'll try something more... expensive!
I'll mostly be wearing my kilt with my red Scouts Canada shirt, hence the Black Stewart, not the Royal Stewart - too much red IMO! MacLaren will look sharp with the red shirt, too.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Le f́or deagh dhùrachd,
Dave
