Hello from Dorset, UK.
Well here I am on "X Marks" after a few weeks lurking and enjoying all of your posts. What a terrific forum!
I moved to the south coast of the UK from the bonnie bonnie banks when I was a wee boy and the old boy was relocated with his work.
My first kilt was borrowed from a relative for my wedding day - Ancient Hunting Robertson. My second, twenty five years later when, during Scotland/England at Twickenham a couple of months ago and admiring many of my kilted countrymen, my wife told me to get one. In a bout of Scottish miserliness I set about obtaining an ex hire kilt and joy of joys found a hire shop who were discontinuing their range of Red Robertson and could offer me a new hand sewn, eight yard, heavyweight for 150 quid. It fits perfectly.
I am now spending many happy hours working out what else I need and where to source it. Thanks to this forum I might be spending a bit more than I intended!
Steve.

Hello Neighbour - I'm in Poole - can see the sea from the back bedroom window.
I see the Robertson tartan each year in Sidmouth, at the folk week there - there is a pipe band in, I think. Exeter which wears it and half a dozen visit to play for the crowds.

Hi Anne, just up the road in sunny Wimborne. Didn't know about the Exeter pipe band, I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the welcome.
Steve.

My first was Robertson Hunting Modern, then Robertson Hunting Red, and now a Robertson Hunting Weathered Muted. Tomorrow I go to collect my 4th Robertson of Staun Ancient, this is a stunning kilt. Hand made by Nicola Laird who made my last two. Nicola is based at The High Street, Edinburgh.
