I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mark and I reside in La Vergne, Tennessee with my wife. Our children are grown and my 31 year old daughter recently married. I have a 30 year old son and he has a son from a previous marriage. I am very much enjoying hanging with my 2 year old grandson on every Friday. I work as a software Engineer the other four days a week. My interests are Hunting, Fishing… heck anything outdoors. I am also a history geek. My interest in history and family seems to melt very nicely into Scottish Heritage. I have the unique occasion to be the last generation that can remember my Scottish ancestors and the oldest generation to hopefully get to meet my Scottish descendants. My great-grandfather was Zacharias Gordon and as a child I knew he had an accent but just thought he came from up north. It was not until long after his death that my mother told me about the Gordon’s and where they came from. Sadly they were all gone while I was in my twenties. I remember as a child going to the games in and around Charleston West Virginia. It last attend a games in Middle Tennessee in 1999 with my son and is pal with a surname of Moir, an exchange student from Dundee. He wore his Gordon kilt. As I mentioned before, my daughter married last October a young man from Edinburgh. She now resides with him in the New Town area. My wife and I will be making yearly jaunts to see her. My wife will be heading over in August, regrettably I am recovering from a back injury and surgery and will not be able to travel this year. Hopefully it won’t be long before another grandchild will be produced and I can be the grandfather with an accent. Hence I am the bridging generation. I am very much enjoying this forum and have started scheming for a kilt much to my wife’s dismay. She will be attending a wedding of my son in-laws’/daughters best man. It will be held in Glasgow while she is visiting. It is to have a very formal reception. I think my wife will be surprised as the kilts will be swinging. My plan is coming together.
