Hello everyone...
This is to show that I have 'officially' joined the forum - athough I am not new to it. Reference to XMarks posts have often come up in my on-line searches, and I have been keeping my eye on you all..! Interesting and often quite compelling reading for someone in my line.
I have recently returned to live permanently in Scotland, after a lifetime of living in different parts of the world, and have been a kilt-wearer for almost 60 years - enjoying inherited items of Highland dress and having been brought up on clan traditions. Although a journalist and historian by profession, I have had a finger in the pie of my wife's vintage costume and textile business which has become fairly well known. It has often been a source for genuine pieces, with a number of items finding their way into film and TV productions. We supplied items for the TV series 'Outlander' a few years ago - I think it was for the second series.
My own particular interest in Highland dress (apart from the pleasure and fun of wearing it) has been to accumulate a small collection of vintage sporrans and sgian dubh. These are the sort of items seen in the catalogues from the earlier years of last century, but it seems the time has now come to part with some of those things. I would like to organise photos before they all go, and post them on the forum sometime, if that's permitted...

Hello,
May I suggest that you take a look at the "For Sale" section and the guidelines for posting items for sale.
Here is a copy of those guidelines just for reference. Please notice the very first item.
These guidelines are there simply because, in the past, so many have joined our forum with no intent of joining our community. Their only intent is selling stuff. We call these "Drive-by" sellers.
- The “For Sale” section of the forum is intended for private sales of items owned by our members. It is not for businesses to advertise their products or link to products offered by businesses.
1. A member may not post an item for sale until they have made 10 posts to the rest of the forum.
2. Any item posted for sale must be, in some way, related to the topic of the forum, kilts. A Scottish connection is insufficient. If in doubt please contact the Moderators.
3. Items my be offered for sale for a maximum of 60 days.
4. If the price of an item is changed the seller should edit their original post.
5. Sellers may 'bump' the post to remind others of the item only three times. Once after 15 days. once after 30 days, and finally once after 45 days. Creating a new post to change the price will be considered a bump.
6. After 60 days posts will be deleted.
7. No one may offer an item for sale here, that is also listed anywhere else. If an item is also listed on Ebay, Craigslist or any other commercial site it will be deleted here, leaving a one line explanation such as "Now listed on EBay".
8. As a courtesy to other members, an item that is sold, pending sale awaiting payment, or removed, the seller is responsible for amending their original post or bringing this to the attention of the Moderators by PM.
9. As a courtesy to others, member comments should be relevant to the sale. Posts like "Wow, I like this" or "Sorry, too small/big for me" will be deleted.
10. If a member is genuinely interested in an item posted for sale they should contact the seller using the Personal Message (PM) function of the forum.
