After a couple of years “lurking” here I finally decided to join, so “hello” from Florida.
A little background on how I got here.
My family lore was that we were Irish then a couple of years ago my lovely wife was
researching her genealogy with the help of a knowledgeable friend. They got stuck on hers
then asked me if I would like them to look at mine. I give them my mother and fathers names and
birth dates, and also my paternal and maternal grandparent’s names.
Well they traced several lines back 6-8 generations. Turns out there is a lot of Scots in my
family tree. My paternal 2nd great grandfather was born in Paisley in 1816. His father
married a Craig. On my maternal side I have McCollum and Wallace.
So I became very interested in all things Scottish and that lead me here. I just recently purchased
my first kilt, a SWK Heavyweight wool in Stewart Black. My first outing in it was to the
Insane Inflatable 5K my wife and oldest daughter “ran”. It went very well. The only comments made
were by my daughter (she gets that from her mother). But I ended up in a lot of pictures.
A very pleasant experience. I will try to add some pictures later.
