Hello from France
Hiya folks !
So, here is a quick introduction
I have always been interested in everything related to celtic "folklore", so I guess it was obvious that I would fall in love with Scotland after my first visit last year.
People are so nice here, and the landscapes are so magnificent! And there is so much history and culture...
So, first visit was last year, an impromptu roadtrip around the country for 8 days... And I've been back last week to visit Glasgow, and will be back in August, this time with my mum. And it seems that this will be a yearly occurence(at least) from now on ! Seems like I'm hooked!
I've also always loved tartan and kilts, but never owned one. I found a lovely one in a "retro clothing" shop in Glasgow, and intend it to be my first "real" kilt.. Well after a (lot, lot, lot) of modifications. So, looking and poking around on the Internet on ways to turn my new/old kilt into one fitting me, I found your community, and voilą, here I am !
Edit: I forgot to mention that I have all kind of hobbies, and amongst is knitting, crochetting, spinning and preparing wool, and quite recently, sewing. So I intend to make my own socks and garments to go with my (hopefully) numerous kilts !

Well met Charline. What sort of color scheme do you fancy? I'll bet there is a plaid that will fit all your needs and tastes. Glad to have you with us.

Hello to both of you !
I have to admit that I have a slight preference for reds ;)
But some greens have a special place in my heart too !
The kilt I rescued from the thrift store is basically red... Here are a few pictures of the beast (I know, I have to change the wallpaper behind )

I know it is waaayyy too long for me, but I just couldn't let it go.

Hi Jock Scot !
I will be staying in Inverness-shire a few nights this summer too, it is a really nice area.
Of course, I will have to go to the Loch Ness and to Culloden ;)

Bienvenue de Colorado. This site has several people that can give advice on adjusting your kilt.
It has been a while since I have really spoken much French and I am quite rusty in the language.

Thank you all for the welcoming words
Regarding my kilt, I will dig into the forum this weekend. Maybe I'll try first to sew one from scratch and use this 'old' one as a reference before trying to modify it.
As you'll see, my English is far from perfect ;) LKM, if you want to practice your French, just ask! (btw, isn't French a synonym for swear words in Engish? Because I am proficient in French swear words too )
Speaking about languages, I'm trying to learn Scottish Gaelic, and it's harder than I expected... But I won't give up!
