Hello from Iowa
Hi all. I've been lurking around the site for awhile now doing research and finally broke down and ordered a kilt (Stillwater Thrifty) to see how I like it. Figured I might as well join the forum proper now that I jumped in. A bit about me; of Irish descent (the profile name is actually of my several time over great grandfather who immigrated from County Mayo to the colonies in 1740; strangely however in his sons military records from the American Revolution they are listed as being of Scottish descent). I live in Iowa and have worn a kilt before but it was 15+ years ago (I had bought a traditional wool kilt at a garage sale and used it when on stage with the band I was in at the time). I have debated for years on getting back into a kilt but the cost put me off, however after looking into it recently to get one for use on St Paddy's Day, the local Celtic Fest/Highland Games and several other Irish Fests/Celtic Fests/Highland games all within driving distance I found a lot of wonderful reviews regarding Stillwater for casual kilts to start with so decided with how well recieved they seem to be and for the low cost, it was time to jump in. Just want to say thanks to everybody for their posts that I have been reading the last couple weeks, and looking forward to adding my own 2 cents in the future!
