Hello From Kansas City!
Hi all,
Just joined the board and wanted to say hello to all the brothers in Kilts!
On a vacation to Seattle some years ago I ran across a flyer for Utilikilts in the Pike Place Market. (I think it was 2000. We're they selling from a stall there?) I told my kids that I wanted a kilt for my next birthday/Father's Day/Christmas. They thought I was crazy and said I could have a kilt but they wouldn't be seen with me in one.
All these years later, the kids (two girls) are now free spirits and they fianlly bought me a kilt (UK Original in black) for my birthday in July. As luck would have it, there is a UK retailer nearby in Weston Missouri (The Celtic Ranch) so it was easy to try one on and take it home that day!
My first kilt outing was at one of my band's gigs. We just happened to be playing at a Celtic bar so it was all good! Got "the Question" more than once from some attractive ladies.
The next outing was at an outdoor concert in KC. Nothing but positive comments!
The Ethnic Festival and the Ren Fest are coming up and I plan to wear it there as well. Maybe I'll get some real cojones and were it on errands!
BTW - The Question: If it's in fun, then you've all seen the usual responses. If it's from an idiot, the only response is, "Why do you ask?". It puts them on the defense and will usually make them feel like the idiot that they are.
Cheers!
