Hello from Kentucky
Saying hello from the Louisville KY area. I live just west of Ft. Knox actually.
I have an interst in Highland Games and participating in the future.
Last name is McFarland, don't know if it's Irish or Scottish or a mix. I've heard all three.
I've always been interested in wearing of the kilt just don't know what pattern of tarton to get. I've seen an American Heritage pattern and looking to gravitate toward that.
Saying hello and looking forward to communicate with everyone.

Hello John,
Welcome to XMarks from the other side of the Atlantic in Norfolk, England.
As for a tartan - wear what you like. Just wear it often.
Regards

Welcome from a ways northeast of you. Did you make the Glasgow games last weekend?
American Heritage is a fine-looking tartan, IMHO. Rocky at USA Kilts can fix you up with a made-to-measure semi-traditional kilt in that tartan made of poly-viscose fabric. Very easy care, nearly bulletproof and indistinguishable from wool except on (too) close inspection by an expert. (I have one in MacNaughten, my wife's clan tartan).

Welcome from Reno. My youngest son is stationed at Ft. Knox. He is also thinking of purchasing the American Heritage from USAkilts. int:

Welcome to XMarks from Louisville!
The next Highland Games I'm aware of in the nearby area would be the Wickland Highland Games in Bardstown in August. I think this year it's going to be somewhere on the Heaven Hill distillery property rather than at Wickland (the old governor's house) proper. There's also the Central Kentucky Highland Games at Eminence, KY in September.
There is an Irish Feis (dance competition) June 16 at Kentucky Country Day School. (Google 'Louisville Feis').
That's about the extent of Celtic events on my radar at the moment.

Welcome from the state capital.
An obvious place to start might be the Clan McFarlane tartans.
