Hullo! So like many I have been lurking for a short time trying to get a feel for whether this is the forum I would like to be a part of. Guess what?I'm a 48 year old Scot who has been living in the USA for a little over 8 years. I still have close family in Scotland as well as England and Canada and more distant family scattered around the globe. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't worn the kilt since I was a young boy. Then The Proclaimers came to town and it seemed only fitting to rent a kilt for the occasion. Like pulling on my bike jacket (something else I hadn't done in a very long time till I bought myself a Triumph last May) it felt like the most natural thing to do to don the kilt and so the first step in the journey ahead was taken. There will be small hurdles to overcome (the wife is hesitant) but I have no doubt in my mind and absolutely no hesitation at being the only kilt wearer in town (except for the pipers who play at events). My mother is a Murray and she wears the Atholl which I shall also wear. I fancy the SRU tartan too which would be perfect as my son is an 11 year old hooker (I think I can get arrested for saying that in America
). So that's enough about me for now. Thank you for the opportunity to contribute as well as learn. Lang may yer lum's reek!
