Hello from Michigan! Need a new kilt soon Help!!!!
Been reading the board for a few days after hearing about it and figured I would register. I found this site through a friend who I used to train for highland games with. I'm in a rock and a hard place my wedding is coming up fast and finally talked the wife to be into me wearing a Kilt!!! Problem is that my kilt I use in the games is not presentable for such a occasion one to many pints spilled and to much mud on it for her. So I have 5 weeks to find a new kilt. Anyone have suggestions? I'm not opposed to a generic kilt already made if thats what my only option is or even a rental if I had to but where is best? Also I'm sorry I know you guys probably get this alot, but I'm horrible with the search function, but I did try!

First off from another Michigander!
Secondly, if ya need a kilt REAL fast go to Stillwater Kilts: Just click on the banner on the right side of this page. If ya need one a bit nicer, USA kilts is the way to go. The link is in the banner at the top of this page. Check out the "Off the Rack Casuals". Nicer kilts and wider selection of tartans.
Hope that helps, and welcome to the rabble!

Thanks Steve for the quick reply.. Since reading here for a few days before starting a account, I've read stillwater is quick. I'll look into the other as well for off the racks, I thought I looked at the other though and did not see inventory listed online guessing I might have to call? Or perhaps I just did not click the right button I'll look again though.

You're right, man, my bad. If you want to see the variety of tartans USA has just go into "Casual Kilt". It's the made to order version, but you'll be able to see the tartan selection in there. For the "off the rack" stuff, I think you'll have to call or e-mail to see what's available.

Welcome to XMarks, Duff. Hope you enjoy your stay.
Since you are in the states, would recommend you check out USA Kilts -- they have an ad right at the top left of the XMarks partners banner on the top of the page.
Also recommend Stillwater Kilts, their ad is on the right side of the page under the "Sponsors" heading.

Hello neighbor and fellow heavy thing thrower! Yep, save the games kilt for the games. Check USA Kilts, and Stillwater if you want something on the less expensive side that will still look good enough for a wedding. You can always go up when you can have a bit more time to get a tailor made kilt.
If this is something you plan on wearing on the field as well, my experience is that the USA PV kilts take the beating better than the Stillwater's do over time. Mostly because they don't snag. If you're going to wear this at pubs as well as evenings out, then either are good choices--just my 2 cents worth.
Oh, and throw hard or go home!

Re: Hello from Michigan! Need a new kilt soon Help!!!!
Thanks everyone!!! I'm Following all the links and PM'S I've been sent and finding alot of good information and resources. If anyone reads this feel free to keep the links or suggestions coming I like having options.
DetroitPete do you do amateur events or are you with the big boys? And do you attend the St. Andrews and Saline? I used to just train with guys up near Alma, have done some Amateur events in my travels though nothing in Michigan and nothing to serious as my body has taken the toll of years of rugby before I got intrested in the games..... Well that and the fact I'm only 6ft and 210lbs so alot of the big boys could toss me like a Caber. I Still go out and throw the weights, and toss the sheaf among the other events I just don't set any records. Also have done some Tug of War and Highland wrestling. Anyways wondered if maybe i've watched you at the games before?
