Hello from Missouri
I thought I would stop by a tell a little about myself. I am 26 years old and live in Joplin Missouri in the USA. I have done factory work most of my life, but recently went back to school to get my EMT license and go through the fire academy. I am currently a volunteer firefighter and hope top get on with a department as career in the near future. I am of Irish and Scottish ancestry with some Dutch, German and who knows what else thrown in. Sadly any family I could have gotten any more information from has passed on.
I currently have one kilt that I bought on ebay years ago. Heritage of Scotland...I can still get it on but I was about 40 pounds lighter when I got it and it is some kind of blend material so I don't particularly care for it. I have saving for a good kilt and have been trying to decide between a 5 or 8 yard and between USA Kilt's firefighter memorial tartan or the Dyer family tartan . I have been leaning toward my family tartan, but have no idea what kind of pleats.
Anyhow, I look forward to meeting all of you and learning what I can from you. I will look around the forum to see what I can learn before I start posting any questions.

Welcome from Springfield! Those are both fine tartans, perhaps you should keep both in mind. Many people will wind up with multiple kilts, I currently have a kilt for formal-wear and a "beater" utility kilt, and I plan to get a "casual" kilt for highland games and kilt nights. Depending on what fabrics your chosen tartans are available in, you may want to plan accordingly.

Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts. I tend to lean toward family but that firefighter tartan looks nice.
