Afternoon from a nice sunny day here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, I'm Robert a.k.a. off kilt-er dude, I am an aspiring kiltmaker/ crafty artsy guy. Ive been reading on this forum for a couple weeks now after my wife sparked an interest in my ancestry as I am Scottish,Irish, Welsh and one or two other things, I started looking into some stuff and have yet to find my family tartans but am interested in learning as much as I can. I have downloaded and purchased The Art of Kiltmaking(bought) and How to make a Boxpleated kilt(download) From Barbara Tewksbury and am excited to get TAoKM as I believe I am going to have fun with the knife pleats! LOL Ok hello all cant wait to get your advice in the future! Robert B
Hi & Welcome from Worcestershire England
You're off to a good start. Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts. Looking forward to photos. Barb's book and others here like Bonnie Heather Greene show us the world of variations in how a tartan can be pleated. Amazing. I wish I had the time to learn.
Welcome from Reno.

other than not having much experience with kilts I have one that I made this last weekend that I am going to post pics of, although I don't have buckles or a liner in it. Lol Gotta say that the walmartartan plaid that I got pleated nicely with the assistance of my sewing machine because there is a stripe in the middle of every pleat on top and in the hidden pleats!
