Hello from Nazareth, Belgium
Hello, I am from Belgium, close to the city of Ghent. I have no family link that I know of with people from Scotland. But I have always been interested by the Scottish culture and tradition. The easiest way here to get to know Scotland is by starting to learn more about Whisky . When I also wanted to know more about kilts, things started to get more difficult. People wondered where my curiosity came from. Wearing kilts is not evident in my country! Thanks to the people of the VCS (Flemish Caledonian Society) I succeeded in finding information. I hope now that this forum will enable me to come in contact with kindred spirits.

I've always been surprised how many kilts are around in Belgium! there are several Pipe bands , and they were on parades in Gent at least a few times each year.
In 2010 I went to Kasteel Ooindonk for the Scottish Gathering, I've put some pictures on an album here , you are definately not alone! I have two friends in Gent who wear a kilt almost as daily wear!

Welcome. You'll definitely find lots of kindred spirits here. There are a few folks active in these fora who have no connection to Scottish/Irish/Gaelic ancestry, but are still very much interested in kilts.
